Declan McCabe, Architect
Dip. Arch., B. Arch. (Sc.) (Hons), MRIAI, Accredited in Conservation
Declan is registered as an architect with the Royal Institute of Architects of Ireland (RIAI), and has a proven track record in the delivery of buildings of all scales for private, semi-state and public clients. He is the managing architect at McCabe Architects, and he plays a key role in all of the firm’s projects.
Declan studied architecture at DIT, Bolton Street in Dublin and in 2001 he was Highly Commended by the Royal Institute of Architects of Ireland (RIAI) for his project in the Travelling Scholarship that year. After graduating with an honours degree, he worked for leading practices in the United States, the U.K. and Ireland. In 2006, having designed the Healthy Living and Learning Centre in Derry/Londonderry, Northern Ireland, his design ability as a project architect was recognised when he received the Provincial Award for Regeneration from the Royal Society of Ulster Architects.
Declan set up McCabe Architects in Donegal after having worked as senior design architect at a leading Irish practice from 2006-2012. Whilst there, he delivered many high-quality buildings in the residential, community and commercial sectors, gaining the respect of many public and private clients.
He has specialist skills in sustainable design, conservation and listed buildings, and is Accredited in Conservation (Grade III) by the RIAI. Declan is well known for his ability to provide sympathetic contextual interventions that facilitate and extend the life of historic structures, while meeting a client’s requirements.
Declan is an experienced expert witness in court, arbitration, conciliation and mediation. He possesses a pro-active attitude to his court work, and with the help of his support staff acts in a responsive and timely manner.
Married to Nadine, Declan is a keen landscape photographer and enjoys the great outdoors.

Adrian studied architecture at DIT and graduated with an honours bachelor’s degree. He joined the firm in 2012 after working for another busy provincial firm and recently completed a Professional Diploma in Architectural Practice, allowing him to register as an architect.
Adrian aims to create modern designs with a philosophy of building on past traditions, rather than breaking from styles and techniques that are embedded in an area’s culture. He has specialist skills in creating sustainable design for the long-term success of a building.
Adrian has a wide knowledge of computer software ranging from 3D programs for rendering and building information modelling, to graphic design and publishing programs.
Senior Architectural Technologist / Fire Engineer
Paul graduated from LYIT and has almost 20 years experience in the industry.
Paul deals with all Fire Certificate and Disability Access Cert (DAC) applications within the office and has experience in the detailing and project management of complex commercial projects.

Gary has over 15 years experience working on residential, educational and commercial projects. He is passionate about bespoke one-off houses and exploring new details and technologies in modern construction.
