Due to the size of the original dwelling, there was no need to extend the existing footprint. The works will modernize the elevations and refurbish the interior, bringing functionality to the existing, disjointed layout.

At first floor level, alterations include raising the roofs of the front projections. This is necessary as the current layout creates head height issues in corridors and doorways. This vastly increases the comfort and usability of the existing floor area.

At ground level, the design re-orients the living spaces to the south facade and transfer the service spaces to the north side of the house.

The front alterations created a modern entrance space and dining area with a snug at first floor level. The elevations will be altered in line with this on the remaining facades; the south facing bay window altered from its existing 50p shape to a square projection, a porch to the northern door and revisions to the existing windows. The works will be executed using modern materials with crisp, clean detailing.
